I just got a th700 from my local pick-n-pull and some guys told me the th700's that came behind the 2.8L's had weaker internals than those that came with the 305/350's. Are they right? And will I need an adapter plate to put it behind my 350? Thanks.

isn't the 2.8L a 60 degree bell housing? yeah you'd need an adapter.

i wouldn't use one that was behind a 2.8........get one that was originally behind a v-8. not just for ease of install, but for the heavier clutch packs. plus the input shaft is different.

I don't think there even is an adapter... if there is, it's something brand new that just came out....

When I installed my Transgo Shift Kit, in the video, they said that the 700's behind the 2.8s were NOT meant for performance. I'm guessing you would gradually tear it apart with a 350.

Just pick one up from a V8 and have piece of mind.

No you wouldnt. You couldnt even hook it up. You could use a manual from a v6 car, with a different bellhousing. But you cannot change the bellhousing on the auto trans. Its a no go.

The guys at my local junkyard are good guys and would let me grab another th700 from a v8 car to exchange with the 2.8L tranny so I didn't waste my money.

Gotchya, it's just the way they made it sound, was like the two could interchange.
