Do aftermarket convertors cause more noise? Added noise after convertor install.

Hi guys,

I've recently installed a new Edge Racing Convertors 9.5inch "Street Edge" TC set to stall at 2800-3000rpm. It cured a vibration problem I was having and the car has responded really well to the higher stall.

The problem I'm having is since that very day of install there is a new noise my car is making. It is most noticeable when you hold the car in gear, as opposed to leaving it in drive. There is a 'wooing', almost whistling like sound that is louder with higher engine revs. The transmission fluid was changed and the level appears correct. This noise was definitely not there before the new TC was put in.

Any ideas what this could be? Do aftermarket convertors give additional/different sounds? Could there be an additional problem with the transmission itself?

All suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

I believe I have that TC as well, or something very similar that has just been put into mine. I've noticed that same "wooing", unfortunately I've changed so many other things I couldn't pinpoint if it was this.

Be curious to see inputs from people that also have the Edge TC

Yes, the noise is still there in Drive, but is more noticeable in 1, 2, and 3.

The transmission does not slip at all either.

Didn't notice any new noise coming from mine after putting in an Edge converter... exhaust is pretty loud though so might not be able to hear it.

I have heard this several times from customers. I guess its normal for his 9.5" TC's

Dana, When I contacted the company directly they say it sounds like a power steering pump low on fluid. You sell these convertors I believe, from your website, have you found them durable enough? That is, do you think I should worry about this noise, or accept it as a 'characteristic' of the new TC?

It is just the noise, that I hear complaints on, otherwise the TC's seem to hold up ok.
