T-56 clutch fork problem

Hello,

I have swapped T-56 it to 1987 camro form LT1 Camaro, new clutch kit (part RAM-98516HD), clutch fork (oryginal GM). Pedals and clutch master cylinder are form 3rg gen T5 trans, slave cylinder is LT1 T56.
Now problem is that when clutch pedal is presed clutch fork touches pressure plate and grind it, any idea why and how to solve it ??

Best regards

Re: T-56 clutch fork problem

The clutch fork rides in a throwout bearing (TOB) and pulls away from the pressure plate (PP) when the pedal is pressed. How is your fork pushing towards the PP to make it grind? Does it grind when the pedal is first pushed, or only at full travel?

Re: T-56 clutch fork problem

Sounds like your over extending the TOB into the front of the trans. You can try spacing back the slave (washers between slave and bellhousing spacer), or you may have to put a pedal stop on your clutch pedal.

Do you have access to a T56 master? The T5 master may be over-extending the T56 slave.

Re: T-56 clutch fork problem

i,m planning to use screw to limit the travel of the pedal and avoid cutting the rod

Re: T-56 clutch fork problem

i had this same problem when i installed a new clutch on my t56. with the pedal to the floor it would grind. but no problems going into gear or anything. so i was careful driving around not to floor the clutch and after breaking the clutch in the problem went away.

Re: T-56 clutch fork problem

doh i forgot to share about this as i had lots on my head last 30 days, i found a reason ot my problem, the screw that holds clutch fork was unscrewing it self because of vibrations, after screwing it with bolt glue problem disappeared

best regards
