I went through an entire saga for cooling my car. I have 355 with ~425 HP.

The conclusion is you need a lot of air to cool that kind of HP. V8's need anywhere from 3k CFM to 6K CFM. With 500 HP...

Alright so...just got off the phone with Mike from Comp Cams here's what he suggested...

Custom Grind Cam, said it was a blower cam, (not sure if this matters)

Solid Roller

Ya, I have kind of ruled out hydraulic as an option for various reasons including the ones mention above.

Im set on the solid roller, I just have to decide which cam to go with.

Appreciate the advice guys,

The heads can go up to .700 lift.

I have no problem going to .650 etc.

The only issue I have with going to a higher lift is the valve spring / valve train life....

The motor is a 383 SBC, brodix T1 heads, Vr Jr. intake, 750 dbl pmper. 11:1 CR.

The car weights around 3,400 lbs with me in it.

The trans is a TH350...

I tried putting my trans lines into the Champion rad and they did not fit. However, I did upgrade my trans cooler to a 30,000 GVW B&M cooler and installed a temp gauge.

Not sure what brake setup you have, but a possible solution is the pistons in the calipers are retracting back into the caliper too far. ei, their not staying adjusted.

I still have not ordered my rear end yet. I'm waiting on enough guys willing to buy it.

Go to the local parts store and get a tranny cooler. Just looks a mini radiator. Your probably in for $50 for a decent one at least. I just use rubber lines to go from the trans hard lines to the rad...

So $1,500 for the rear end. That leaves brakes, which I think my disc mounting plates will bolt up to the 9" ??? lol. I think you can order the rear ends this way.
