oh yea if you want to build a good 2.8 read Chevrolet power catalog shows how to build a 400hp engine like...

If you can't bore a 3.1 to a 3.4 then how did the shop that my dad our old jeep Cherokee's 2.8 bored and stroked to a 3.4 work then? it had a 3.1 crank and 3.4 rods and pistons.

I would think that the hollowed cat would be louder, and the high flow cat would be a bit quiter and flow good.

I would just get a magnaflow cat.

I think both the firebird/camaros from 85/90 were 2.8mpfi.

And in 87 I think they went to internally balanced so I don't think your flex plate/Harmonic balancer would work if that engine is 87 or...

I didn't pay nothing, but my dad paid $200 for my 85 firebird. I just do chores around the house to pay it off.

It has the 2.8mpfi, 700r4 that worked fine when we got the car but something broke...

you can always punch the cat and see if that helps or do a glass pack or something.

So I got my new engine and we aren't gonna do to much to it sense it only has 55000 miles on it if not less...

Yes they do give a little bit of a raspy sound in higher rpms.

like how bird has a glasspack instead of a cat, I guess people that don't want the raspy sound on there 4cylinder imports do that...

So it looks like I might get to build a 3.4 sometime my dad has figured with gas prices and a v8 and 16 year old teen it would be to expensive.

And we don't want to waste a $400 exhaust sense...

ok that was a bad idea, how about this do you have to take your car through DMV? or what ever to have them check to make sure it's legal?

I would call DMV if you have one if not you probably don't have emisions?

that kit would work in a v8 700r4 to sense you said the v8 v6 autos are the same?

I might be putting a v8 in it's on the cheaper side for motors.

ok thank you, would a tranny shop be able to buy the kit and put it in for me, or would I need to buy it? I am only 16 don't know much about trannys yet so it would just be easier to have the shop do...

Well my 85 firebird drove when we got it but we moved it a few days later and when pulling it up in the driveway to wash it something made a lound noise then it was gone, now it doesn't go forward it...

Well I got a 85 firebird with a 2.8 with bad headgasket and something wrong with automatic tranny that my dad bought from a friend for $200. It's my project now I'm only 16 so I have plenty of time....
