PVC molded floor pans???
PVC molded floor pans???
Ok this is my hot rod I stole for 3000, or thought I did. I’m curious because I can’t find anything on it anywhere, but this car has molded pvc, hard plastic, whatever you want to call it, floor pans. Now what shocked me is that this is also molded in the transmission well area. It clean and looks as it was a kit, as everything is custom molded. Does anyone have any information on what the heck this is, is it safe? Any information is very much appreciated

Re: PVC molded floor pans???
The floor pans look like normal, factory floorpans. You have some custom subframe connectors welded in there and if the floorpan feels like plastic then they may be polymer coated, like a rhino liner. And that’s what it looks like from your first picture. There’s no way or reason to make a plastic floorpan on a unibody car as they’re part of the structure of the car.

As far as I can tell, these are 1000 % plastic. I will scrape the bottom and take pictures to confirm. The weird thing is the tranny tunnel feels plastic as well. If it is plastic it is all molded perfectly and I can’t find any information on it anywhere

The tunnel looks original with the pleats, creases etc
Floors are flat sheetmetal with bead rolls for strength. Most likely they're 18-20ga steel, but could be aluminum if it's riveted/glued in. Zero chance that's plastic
I agree, use a magnet

1000% correct. It’s is metal. I put a magnet on it and it stuck. Was just worried about it being structural sound. But whatever coating is on it , makes it feel like plastic. Appreciate all the comments and advice

With that fabricated subframe, the floor could be flat sheetmetal since that subframe provides far more rigidity than the factory unibody did.
My race car doesn't have that much subframe however it does have a full cage which makes up for it. My floor is just sheet metal.
