If anyone is interested in seeing gear pattern, let me know. There seems to already be plenty of info on that.

I started with 0 pinion shims, and went to .010", then .020, and ended with .025"

.010" backlash

I just finished reading the enter thread. How did you bend the 3/8 rod for the exhaust? Or did you buy them all with the bends already and you just cut to fit?

I used a torch. The rod was purchased straight from metal supermarkets. Even the most complex bends (below) are easy. I used some tig filler wire to get the shape I wanted then bent the rod with my torch to match it. Test fitted and tweaked a few times and it worked very well.

Oh ok. Thanks. I was hoping it was something else. I don't have a torch setup

MAP gas will accomplish the same thing, just takes longer to heat to red. Fortunately stainless steels are horrible at dissipating heat so its faster to heat up than typical carbon steel.

True MAP will work. A torch is one of those things you just gotta have! And don't think you have to buy some huge cart/tanks, something small works just as well.

I haven't had need for a torch setup, so it isn't something I have invested in. If I need to break free rusted bolts I just use my welders, either the MIG or TIG. When I did my 4.8 swap the F-body manifolds had a seized stud. I was able to get most of them out by MIGing a nut onto the stud and got it very hot. I had one that wouldn't budge, so I broke out the TIG and just kept moving the torch around until the flange started to glow, and the stud finally came out. I suppose I could try using that method to heat the rod

I'd shy away from using a TIG with high frequency start on a vehicle with sensitive electronics hooked up, if that was the case.

It can certainly work, just control the current and you should be fine.

Thanks you! Still working on some small details, but the car is running well. Took it on an hour+ drive last weekend, and everything went well.

I'm in the market for some F-body T56 parts. (not for this cars transmission since I already built it obviously)

Looking for anything F-body 5th and 6th gear related. Here's my wanted post:

2022 update - The car runs awesome, and I drive it as often as I can. Currently has 1800 miles on it.

I finally fixed the broken picture links. Let me know if you see any other broken links.

I'll be posting a for sale ad for the original 1999 LS1 engine that I'd purchased for this swap, but never ended up using. As well as a T56 that I built in preparation of my next build which simply hasn't happend.

Will link here asap.

Enjoy the pics that a lot of you have never been able to see.
