Lol! 12 years later.

i got in by drilling a couple holes in the plastic panel. I was able to access the center of the latcg where there is a slot. Inserting a priper size flat blade screw driver...

I put a couple 100k resistors in to make 200k for a quick fix. It reads just a tad high.

I will be looking to switch to 196k next time its out. I just didn't have the resistors on hand last...

Color bands seem to be partially missing on mine, but it also measures 3.9 ohms. Also, found a picture of one of these boards on the web that clearly shows a 3.9 ohm resistor in that slot.

1991z28...., I would go ahead and trim pin 4 and 10 and solder in a 195k resistor and see what happens. It may be that you also have a bad capacitor or even stepper motor in the cluster. Checking...

Short story, Make sure everything is plugged in well, remeasure the resistance on your fix (check for short), check for voltage and ground on the plug to the cluster.

Just be sure you clip the factory resistor so that it is completely out of the circuit. This fix should work for any car with a failed resistor.

Update:

The shop put the old clutch and pressure plate back in. Everything works fine. They compared the clutch fork to a new one, no difference, so im assuming if its bent, it's not much.
