Check the lowside plug with a volt meter or light tester. No need to check the switch itself since there is no power coming from there to begin with.

Try stripping a small section of the wires...

I doesn't create HP it reduces PPL (parasitic power loss). They shave weight off of your car in general and the less weight makes it easier for the tranny to turn the DS and the less weight makes it...
