Re: Drum to LS1 disk questions.

From what I've heard, 88-92 both disks and drums have the same stock prop valve. So all I'll need is a new MC with the proper bore, and that's it?

Can you take a pic of your MC and stock valve? If it looks similiar to mine I might just say screw it, and swap the rear with the stock stuff and see what happens. Problem is, this car is my daily,...

Drum to LS1 disk questions.

Hey all,

I recently picked up a 2002 LS1 rear end, with disk brakes. Being that I wanted a taller gear, and posi, I figured I might as well go to disks while I'm at it, however I've got a few...

Re: V6 vs LS rear end....

No, all 98+ that HAVE disks are the same disks. There's no discrepancies between the V6 and V8 disks. I didn't know the LS1 rears were that skinny. I thought they'd kick out on either side about two...

Re: V6 vs LS rear end....

Stephen, you looking at a 4th gen rear?

If so, go 98+. I believe all 98+ disks are the same (Considered "LS1 brakes"). Though I know my mom's 99 V6 still has drums.

If you're swapping in your...

Will these fit with my 4th gen rear?

Okay. I've just finished putting together my LS1 rear-end, but before I can do the swap, I'm going to need bigger tires as my 15"s don't clear the new disks. I was looking at Z06 replica's because I...

Re: 3.1 headers

It won't work in states with emissions testing because IIRC you have to remove the smog pump for it to fit, and the headers don't have bungs for the A.I.R. tubes that normally go into the manifolds.

I bought one of the ebay ones, tossed a K&N on it, and built a metal shield to shield it from the engine bay temps. Works pretty nicely.

Re: The best V6 for early iron?

Don't mind the mods. Ever since the site was bought out, they've been overly anal.

I'd say a mild 350 would be your best bet in a heavy truck like that, otherwise I'd go for the 4.3, as it's just...
