There is a way to connect the e brake cable and still watch the movie. When I did this on my cougar i ran the e brake cable (pink) to the e-brake signal line. then there is a code you have to enter...

SO yeah got the timing fixed.. and sure enough the knock sensor and coolant temperature sensor kicked out the SES Code. well i crawled under and the knock sensor connector was hanging by a thin wire....

I dont mean to question you but did you check the fuse on the back of the head unit. it could have got a power spike if you left the battery connected and blew the fuse on the head unit its self...

If you have a bad ground anywhere in your system it is gonna drain the hell out of your battery. The alternator could be shorting to ground or even a bad ground at/ on your battery.
