How old is the unit? It might be the finals (amp in the radio) cutting off due to getting to hot. if it isn't a ground or connection problem i would say go get the head unit checked be for you hurt...

Well 80% of the dash wiring is fixed just need to do a little nor tonight if I'm not working. They rewired the speakers in the car with cheap wire so that needs to go. Need to get the horn working...
