they make spark testers, but you can just pull a spark plug out (keep the boot+wire on it) and lay it on the exhaust, then have someone crank the engine over while you watch and listen for spark.

MAF just senses air flow so your ECM knows how much air is coming IN. that's it.

you can disconnect the MAF to force base timing and fuel, see if that helps.

tested both coolant wires for continuity from CTS to ECU, both checked out less then an ohm.

pulled ECU, no signs of anything blown up.

fans turn on while i pull codes, so can i rule out a...

hey. it never turns on automatically, via temps. ran some tests, here we go. wiring diagrams don't tell me what i want to know.

i have an aftermarket 140am 12si power master alternator, what will happen if i replace the diode pack with a 94 amp diode pack? will it just limit the output of the alternator, or fry it even more?

stick your key on the accessory mode, so you get dash lights on.

stick a paper clip in the top 2 terminals (A and B, scope that link and you'll see exactly where to hook the paper clip to)

check your codes with a paper clip, it may be or may be not the MAF, but you should probably fix whatever is causing the CEL... might be related to your issue.

Ahhh, thanks. With it unplugged it would just crank normally but nothing would come from it. No popping, backfiring, or firing at all. sorry for the misunderstanding.

i never did that, only unplugged the EST wire while setting timing. Even when plugged in, it won't start, only backfires.

the knock sensor is connected, i didnt know i should unplug the ESC from...

Yes! on the top of my head, intake manifold. loosing coolant so you would have coolant going into the oil instead of oil going into the coolant, right?

im willing to bet you are getting gas in the cylinders, if you got pressure at the rails, the only thing that comes to my mind is a vac leak causing you to run...

Zero Decked and Push rods

I had my block zero decked, with stock push rod lengths of 7.800 my engine (350) eats them up. I hardly over tightened them, got to zero lash and put about 1/4 a turn on each.

yeah, brake booster needs to be hooked up. easiest thing to check is what pandid said, MAF. if it runs, the MAF is bad, try to clean it before you replace it tho, and the connectors as well.

Yeah it's a TPI to TPI setup.

I guess the easiest way to pull the engine is through the top, and keeping the tranny in the car? (L98 and T5 are what I'm workin with)
